With Ray the roommate scheduled to move away next summer and Carol — my Via Quadronno partner — leaving in a few months, it feels like time is speeding up and everything feels so… temporary.
I can’t believe I’ll be leaving in just a year and a half as well.
I feel like I just got here.
So: This Is Not Forever. Point taken, underscored, and driven home. I guess I should make better use of this camera…

A giant star hangs above 5th Ave. for the holiday season.

The Rockefeller Center angels and tree.

Cartier.
Last night, I dragged my boyfriend out with me into the cold to take pictures of the fancy window displays along 5th Ave. because, hey, aren’t we just long-term tourists in the end?
By the time we got back home, my fingers were frozen, but I had a good number of photos and, I don’t know, felt all holiday-y being out with all the lights and music and such. It was nice! The cynical side of me could have complained about the crowds and the commercialism and the branding (impeccable — you’ll see below), but the just-wants-to-be-happy side of me has been overpowering that downer for the last few years now. I guess, ever since I got with Marc.
:)
Below, Bergdorf Goodman’s window displays:

Tiffany’s dressed the outside casings of their windows up to look like parts of a carousel and continued that theme in the microcosm of their displays. Not as coutoure and fantastical as Bergdorf, but very sweet and pretty.

Happy Holidays!
WHOA those pics are awesome! I really need to go see those window displays! And we need to go to VQ again soon!!
