[Sorry for the pathetic lack of updates recently! Turns out travel + being sick + work + laziness =/= disciplined blogging. But it does make for lots of vegging and 'Breaking Bad' time, which, in the immediate sense, is very gratifying. Mmm immediacy... Anyways. Still sick, but trying to regain some semblance of a normal life so here we are!]
About a week ago, Boyfriend and I, with two friends in tow, went to go see Fuerza Bruta: Look Up down by Union Square. We had all heard positive things about the show — check out the yelp reviews! — so were pretty excited to see it in person. Roommate Ray was saying it was really cool, but couldn’t seem to be able to provide description beyond that.
Now that I’ve seen the show, I find myself in the same position.
It was really cool. But it’s hard to talk about it without giving away everything that happens. I’ll say this: I LOVED it and would HIGHLY recommend it. Exclamation point!

As you can see it’s pretty artsy, with a heavy emphasis on the visual (and auditory) experience.

I wasn’t able to take photos of some of the really fun scenes because I was too busy enjoying them…

…but I was able to capture this one part! It starts off with four women dancing/swimming/embracing in a shallow pool of water above the audience’s heads.

Then they fan out as the clear tarp on which they’re laying gets lowered closer and closer toward the audience…

…until they’re so close you can reach up and touch them!
There were a lot of other cool things that happened during the show, but it’s something that you really need to see/experience for yourself! Also, the New York show always seems to be on sale (we actually got our tickets for free) or you can wait for half-off standby tickets so there’s rarely a need to pay the full box office price. To sum up —
DO go see this show if:
• You like artsy/symbolic shows
• You like dancing
• You can carpe diem (the end of the show is a big dance party in the ‘rain’ and all four of us went for it and had SO MUCH fun! :D)
DON’T go see this show if:
• You hate strobe lights
• You are expecting a play-type show with dialogue and clearly delineated acts
• You are wearing a neck brace (duh)

HAHAHA you’re so funny! If you’re wearing a neck brace! I was totally interested in this show, maybe I’ll go watch it! :)
You should definitely go see it — you’d love it, I’m sure!
I am majorly addicted to Breaking Bad these days too! Instant gratification, yes!
